How much does waxing cost?
The price depends on the areas you choose. Using the online calculator, you can select the areas you'd like waxed and instantly see how the price changes. Once you're happy with your selection, you can check the available appointments. The fees are very competitive, especially considering Ross's specialist training and experience.

The booking fee is an essential part of the fee structure. It secures your chosen appointment time and is non-refundable. While the majority of your payment can be transferred to another appointment or refunded, the booking fee applies only to the original time and date you booked.

I want to just phone up.
You’re welcome to phone me, but it’s unlikely I’ll answer straight away. If you leave a message before 6pm, I’ll call you back the same day; otherwise, it’ll be the next day.
As a sole trader, I don’t have a receptionist, and most of my time is spent with clients when my phone is on silent. When I’m not working, the phone is usually locked in the salon.
Messages are checked daily before 6pm, and I generally find that text or WhatsApp works best. You can reach me directly on 07864 980812.

Very occasionally, it may be possible to book and attend a waxing appointment on the same day. However, this is rare, and there is often a waiting period of a couple of weeks for your preferred time.
You are welcome to send me a text to 07864 980812, but please be aware that the response will usually be: “Sorry, no — you need to book an appointment online.” Text responses may also take 24hours on my days off.

Can I get waxed on my period?
Yes, certainly. Ideally, wear a clean tampon or menstrual cup. If you are unable to wear sanitary products, it’s still fine to get waxed, especially at the start or end of your period. If you have a show of blood, it worries me much less than it might worry you!
Please remember that it’s not always possible to find you a convenient alternative appointment within the next week or two, so keeping your scheduled appointment is usually the best option.

Does waxing hurt more during my period?
Different people experience discomfort differently. Many find their skin is more sensitive during the days leading up to their period, while others notice no difference. Most people feel more comfortable towards the end of their period and at their best just after.
If you are concerned, some people find that taking a painkiller an hour before their appointment can make the experience easier. It’s often difficult to find an alternative appointment, so please try to keep your scheduled appointment whenever possible.

Should I let Ross know I am having a period?
Unless you are having intimate waxing, you don’t need to let me know. If you are having intimate waxing and using a menstrual cup, I also don’t need to know.
However, if you are having intimate waxing and wearing a tampon, it’s best to let me know. That way, if you have a show of blood, I won’t be concerned. I may also ask you to hold the string to one side (it’s important to avoid getting wax on it!). It’s often difficult to find an alternative appointment, so please try to keep your scheduled appointment whenever possible.

Can I get waxed when pregnant?
Yes, certainly. I have waxed clients throughout their pregnancies, right up to their due dates (and beyond). Please let me know if you have any pregnancy complications and we will always err on the side of caution.
During the second and third trimesters, we will need to adapt the positions used for waxing: first, to avoid lying on your stomach, and later to avoid lying flat on your back. Sitting positions work well, and I am experienced at adapting to meet every client’s needs.
If you develop varicose veins or melasma (dark skin discolouration), we will take extra care over those areas.
Please also check the ingredients of the products used. Different people choose to avoid different ingredients during pregnancy. Product Used and Ingredients List

What positions are used for bum waxing?
For female clients, I find most women prefer lying on their side with knees drawn up to the chest, as it feels both comfortable and modest. This works well for waxing down the middle but isn’t as effective for the bum cheeks. If you are going to be wearing a bikini, I will ask whether you would like the whole buttocks waxed. In that case, we will need to use the knees and elbows position (on all fours).
For men, it’s usually best to adopt the knees and elbows position, as men tend to have hairier bums.
If you find these positions uncomfortable, we can wax your bum while you lie on your front and hold your cheeks apart. I prefer to avoid this position when possible, as the perianal region is not waxed as cleanly, and the skin on the outer buttocks is less taut. This can make the wax more painful and less thorough.

What positions are used for leg waxing?
If you are having your whole legs waxed, I generally follow this sequence:
Lying on your back, knees to chest (waxing the back of the upper thighs)
Lying on your back, knee out to the side (waxing the inner thighs)
Lying on your back, leg straight (waxing the front of the legs)
Lying on your back, knees bent (waxing knees and feet)
Lying on your side (waxing the outside of the legs)
Lying on your front (waxing the back of the legs)
If you have mobility difficulties, pain, or are pregnant, these positions will be adapted to suit your needs. There is a video about bum waxing here:How I wax whole legs.

What positions are used for intimate waxing?
For intimate waxing, you will mostly be lying on your back.
At first, your knee will be drawn up to your chest, and then your knees placed out to the side. When adopting the knees out to the side position (like a frog!), I use a couple of small bolsters to support your knees and reduce hip strain.

Are there videos of intimate waxing?
Yes, I have videos showing intimate waxing with both male and female models. These videos clearly demonstrate what to expect, the positions used, where the wax is applied, and how you are touched.
Because they contain full frontal nudity, they cannot be uploaded to platforms such as YouTube. Once you have booked in and I have verified your age, I will send you the video links via email. I am also working with Stripe Card Payments to create an age-verification solution that complies with the new Online Safety Act.

Do I need to remove my underwear?
Yes If you are having an intimate wax that includes your pubic triangle, labia, bum, perianal region, penis, or scrotum, you will need to remove your underwear.
Realistically, this is the only way to receive a proper Hollywood or Brazilian wax. Please don’t feel nervous or embarrassed — intimate waxing is very popular, and many people have it done.
For chest waxing (not just the tummy), you will need to remove your bra if you wear one.
For all other services, you do not need to remove your underwear.

Can you cope with piercings?
Yes — I’m experienced at working around all types of piercings. Here’s how they may affect waxing:
Nose rings – These can interfere with nose waxing, but studs are usually fine.
Earrings – Please remove them if you’re having the surrounding area waxed. If you only want the outer ear canal waxed, earrings can stay in.
Areola piercings – Generally no problem, as nipples don’t grow hairs. Bars are fine, though larger rings may get in the way.
Clitoral hood piercings – Usually no issues. Some hairs grow where the labia meet at the top, but piercings are often closer to the opening, which isn’t an area waxed anyway.
Belly button rings – Ideally remove them, especially if you want the navel area waxed. Bars and studs are usually less problematic.
Penis frenum piercings – Bars are usually fine, but waxing can be tricky and tweezing may be needed to fully clear hairs on the shaft. Rings should be removed.
Prince Albert piercings – No issue here — the head of the penis doesn’t grow hair, so this piercing can stay in.
Foreskin piercings – This depends on placement. Since the shaft grows hair and foreskin piercings are often rings, removal (or switching to a bar or stud) may be necessary.
Please let me know about your piercings when you book and come prepared to remove them if needed.

Is the wax you use vegan?
None of the waxes I use contain animal-derived ingredients like gelatin, so they’re all vegetarian.
However, a couple do contain beeswax, which means they aren’t strictly vegan. If you’d prefer me to stick to 100% vegan options, that’s absolutely fine — just let me know.

Is intimate waxing embarrassing?
It’s completely natural to feel a bit nervous or self-conscious before your first intimate wax — most people do.
The important thing to know is that waxing is a professional treatment, and my priority is always your comfort and dignity. You’re always in control, and we can pause or stop at any time if you feel uncomfortable. I’ll guide you through the process, keep things relaxed, and make sure you feel at ease.
Very often, clients tell me their worries disappear once we get started, and they leave wondering why they felt anxious in the first place.

How should I prepare for my waxing appointment?
Exfoliate a few days before: Gently scrub the area (with a flannel or exfoliant), followed by a simple moisturiser. This helps free hairs under the skin. Avoid arriving with irritated or rash-y skin.
Don’t Shower just beforehand: A cool (or lukewarm) shower a few hours before (or even overnight) is best. Dry off completely and don’t use moisturiser right before waxing. Moisture or heat can make hair weak or damp, causing them to break instead of being removed cleanly.
Avoid shaving: Don’t shave the area before your appointment — waxing requires hair of a certain length to be effective. If your hairs are too long or matted, I can trim them. Very short hairs won’t necessarily be removed effectively with wax.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing: Try not to be sweaty, and wear cool, breathable underwear. Heat, sweat, or tight clothing can interfere with waxing (wax doesn’t adhere properly to hot or moist skin).
Use the wipe provided: For intimate waxing I provide a sanitary wipe, please use it especially around your bum.
Plan consistency: Hair grows in cycles, and regular waxing helps synchronize hair growth so that hairs are removed more completely. The smoother results last longer when appointments are spaced appropriately (often about every four to seven weeks).

Can I get waxed with candidiasis?
Yes, we just avoid sore areas
Candidiasis is a very common fungal infection, and I regularly notice a few small white patches (called pseudomembranes, or curd-like plaques) between the inner and outer labia. These are generally wiped off when I apply the pre-waxing oil with a cotton pad. If there is then no noticeable redness, waxing can proceed as normal. If I notice significant redness, soreness, or any bleeding, I will let you know and avoid laying wax strips over that area. The rest of your bikini area can be waxed as normal.

I get a sore line in my belly and groin – can you wax?
Yes, we just avoid sore areas
It is very normal for people to get red and sore skin in the belly and groin folds, especially during sweaty hot weather. Sweat sitting in these folds can damage the acid mantle by temporarily altering the skin's pH and diluting its protective components, especially when sweat is left on the skin for extended periods. (I find using CliniSept and Medipure on a regular basis significantly helps protect your skin from this.)
If I notice your skin is damaged in these areas, I will apply a very light touch or often not wax over these areas at all. We can proceed with the rest of your bikini wax as normal, and you might find having less hair in this region helps to reduce sweat as well. If I don’t wax these areas, I will of course let you know and explain why.

Can I get a refund on my booking deposit?
Sorry, no
Firstly, remember you have never paid a deposit, only ever a booking fee. If you have visited several times, then it might feel like you have been paying the whole fee for your waxing and carrying the booking fee you initially paid forward. Actually, you have been paying for the waxing just received minus the booking fee, and then in the same transaction paying the booking fee for your next appointment. It kinda amounts to the same thing until your last visit. Remember, the last time you intend to visit you can pay a reduced fee, as long as you DO NOT have any future appointments booked. If you have future appointments booked that you are now canceling, then you have already used the booking fee up. Essentially, the booking fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.

What areas are included in female intimate waxing?
A Hollywood or Brazilian wax includes all of the following areas for the advertised fee. (This is an added benefit of my salon – others often charge extra!)
Lower abdomen (from the pubic bone to the navel)
Mons pubis (pubic triangle)
Bikini line and groin
Outer labia and the fold between the outer and inner labia
Inner thigh (approximately 5cm band)
Perianal region
Buttock crease and surrounding area
Note: To wax the entire buttock area, we will use the comfortable knees-and-elbows position.)
If you would prefer to leave any of these areas unwaxed, please just let me know at the beginning of your appointment.

What if my penis gets an erection?
Please don't worry, this is fine and completely normal!
This is one of the most common questions and concerns men have. It's a natural physiological response, and many men experience some degree of arousal during the cleansing and wax application. Trying to prevent it will only cause unnecessary stress.
Typically, once hair removal begins, the sensation leads most men to lose their erection and relax into the treatment. I often start by waxing the shaft of the penis, as removal of waxing srtips frequently has the opposite effect, resulting in a shrunken size this is also perfectly normal.
As a man and an experienced professional, I understand that an involuntary reaction is separate from desire or intent. An erection during a wax is a brief, common occurrence and is not a cause for concern.

For a thorough male bum wax, the all-fours position is the safest and most effective way to wax the entire area, including the crack.
For female waxing, this position is not usually necessary unless you have requested a full buttock wax.

Can I bring my child?
Yes, there is room for three in the Shepherds Hut. However, if you are having an intimate waxing, please think carefully about how your child might feel seeing you without clothes on during the treatment.
While I leave this decision to you as a parent, do consider how you might feel if your child later told their friends at school.
The chair is positioned in the opposite corner of the room, but your child may still see what I’m doing. Some clients who find themselves without childcare choose to skip intimate waxing on that occasion, opting instead for a bikini line wax while wearing pants.
If you do bring your child, I’d suggest they bring a book, magazine, or game, as mobile data service is unlikely to be available. Please remember that taking photos or videos is strictly not allowed.

How long does my hair need to be for waxing?
For waxing to be effective, your hair needs to be at least 5mm long. If it’s too short, the wax can’t grip properly, and the results will be poor.
A fun tip to check: take a single grain of rice and place it next to your body hair. If your hair is shorter than the rice, you’re not ready for waxing.
Wait until your hair grows to at least the length of the rice for the best results. (Thanks to https://www.instagram.com/nadswax/ for this great suggestion!)
As a general guide, allow at least three weeks since your last waxing appointment, or at least 14 days since shaving or using hair removal cream. Even then, the rice test is the best way to be sure.
Please note: if you arrive without enough hair growth, I may have to send you away. Waxing areas with inadequate hair results in poor outcomes, repeated waxing of the same patch, or endless tweezing—none of which are good practice.

Should I shower before visiting?
No. Please do not shower just before your appointment. Warm water softens the hairs, increasing the chance they will break rather than be cleanly removed from the root.
Showering also leaves your skin damp and warm, which affects the wax performance. Strip wax in particular may stick more firmly to your skin, making the process more difficult for me and more uncomfortable for you.
Please avoid showering less than 4 hours before your appointment.
Honestly, I would rather you arrive a little smelly than with freshly washed skin! Instead, use the intimate wipe provided, and I will also use a specially designed skin cleanser to prepare your skin.

Does waxing hurt?
Very often, first-time clients say: “It hurt a lot less than I was expecting!”
The question “how much does it hurt?” is difficult to answer because it depends on several factors, such as:
How sensitive your pain receptors are at that moment.
Whether you’re feeling nervous or anxious — anticipation often makes it worse.
If you’re fighting off a cold, illness, or feeling run down.
If you have elevated levels of histamine (for example, with allergies).
If you’ve consumed a lot of caffeine (it can heighten sensitivity).
The stage of your menstrual cycle (just before a period, most women are more sensitive).
Time of day and tiredness (many people cope better first thing).
Whether you’re pregnant or experiencing hormonal changes.
Certain medications or skin treatments (like retinol or acne products) that thin or sensitise the skin.
Some body areas are naturally more sensitive than others. Areas with dense, coarse hair or more nerve endings (such as the bikini line, underarms, or upper lip) usually feel sharper than legs or arms.
The very first wax on a new area is often the most uncomfortable, but repeat waxing gets easier because the hairs grow back finer and the follicles weaken.
Your hairs are being removed by the root using hot wax, so inevitably there will be some discomfort. However, this is not comparable to plucking hairs out individually with tweezers — the warmth of the wax softens the skin and has a soothing effect. What follows is a quick, sharp sensation as the wax is removed; the actual painful part usually lasts less than a second or two. Once the strip has been taken off, I apply pressure to the area, which calms and soothes the ouch immediately.
Most regular clients return every 4–6 weeks. During their appointments we chat about everyday things, and they barely flinch or miss a beat in the conversation — which shows how little waxing interrupts them once they’re used to it.
It’s also worth remembering:
The follicle anchoring the hair is stretched and broken with each wax, so regrowth tends to be weaker and waxing becomes progressively less uncomfortable.
If hair is too short, the wax won’t grip properly and it can tug. If it’s too long, there may be more pull. The “sweet spot” is about the length of a grain of rice. Please don’t shave or clipper your hair beforehand — if needed, I can trim it for you (it’s very easy to clipper too short).
There may be mild redness, swelling, or tenderness afterwards, especially the first few times, but this usually settles within hours.
Some people find taking an antihistamine or mild painkiller helpful before their appointment, but most don’t feel the need to.
If the thought of pain is stopping you from having an intimate wax, please don’t let it. I can arrange a short test appointment — for example, waxing your underarms first — so you can see how you get on. I can also create a package of appointments for first-time clients that makes the transition to intimate waxing much more comfortable.

Do you do face waxing?
Yes, I offer the following face waxing options:
Upper lip
Chin and cheeks
Brow tidy
Nose
Ears
For mature men who have been shaving their beard or moustache for a long time, I don’t recommend upper lip or chin waxing. Instead, a beard-line wax on the neck and cheeks usually works better.
For mature women who have previously waxed, tweezed, or shaved facial hair, waxing can give great results and often leads to reduced regrowth over time.
Nose and ear waxing is a quick and effective way of removing those pesky hairs that protrude as we get older. It’s very quick and virtually pain-free.
If you have never waxed or shaved facial hair and only have fine “peach fuzz,” waxing will remove this hair and, over time, it will usually grow back even finer.

Should I start waxing my face for peach fuzz?
Some women consider waxing their upper lip or chin to reduce peach fuzz. Like anything, there are pros and cons to think about.
The positives:
Waxing removes hair from the root, so the area can stay smoother for 3–4 weeks compared with shaving or trimming.
Over time, repeated waxing may weaken the follicle slightly, so many clients notice finer, sparser regrowth.
For women who want a smooth base for makeup, waxing can give a flawless finish.
The cautions:
The very first wax on fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) can feel more noticeable than on other areas, because the hairs are delicate and numerous.
Some professionals prefer to avoid waxing the face, because once you start, you’ll likely want to keep up with it — regrowth can feel more obvious simply because you’re not used to seeing it anymore.
There’s a theory that waxing can “synchronise” hair growth cycles, meaning more hairs may appear to come back at once if you stop. Research suggests this is possible, but the effect is small and not well proven in humans. Most people just feel hair is more noticeable after stopping because they’ve got used to the smoothness.
Skin on the face is sensitive, and waxing can sometimes cause redness, bumps, or breakouts, especially if you’re prone to acne or using strong skincare products (like retinol).
A sensible approach:
If you’re curious but unsure, start small. Try a patch test on the side of the face or the upper lip and see how your skin reacts. Alternatives like dermaplaning, threading, or bleaching might also suit peach fuzz if you prefer not to wax.
In short, waxing peach fuzz isn’t harmful, and many women are happy with the results — but it’s worth knowing it’s a commitment, and regrowth may feel more noticeable if you stop.

Do you offer sugaring?
No, I chose to specialise in waxing because:
Works on all hair types
Wax grips coarse, thick, or stubborn hairs better than sugar paste.
Sugaring sometimes struggles with strong hair growth (like bikini or underarms), meaning waxing gives a cleaner result.
Removes shorter hair
Wax can grab hairs from about 2–3 mm long.
Sugaring usually needs slightly longer hair (4–6 mm) to grip properly.
Faster treatment
Wax can be applied to larger areas at once and removed quickly.
Sugaring is usually done in smaller sections and often takes longer.
Lasting smoothness
Wax adheres firmly, pulling out more hairs from the root in one go.
Sugaring can leave behind shorter hairs or cause breakage if not applied perfectly.
Predictable results
Waxing has been used for decades with consistent, reliable outcomes.
Sugaring is more technique-sensitive — the result depends heavily on the practitioner’s skill.
Versatile application
Wax can be used anywhere — from large areas like legs to delicate zones like brows or intimate waxing.
Sugaring paste can be messier and doesn’t always suit every body area.
Less mess
Wax stays where it’s put.
Sugar paste can soften with body heat and become sticky, which some clients find messy.
Of course, some people prefer sugaring — it’s water-soluble, vegan, and may be gentler on very sensitive skin. But waxing wins on speed, efficiency, and reliability, especially for thicker hair and intimate treatments.

How did you end up doing female intimate waxing?
After qualifying as a male waxing technician in July 2020 at Axiom, I began advertising my services for male waxing. However, I quickly started receiving enquiries from women interested in intimate waxing too. This led me to explore the possibility of training in and offering female intimate waxing services.
In April 2021, I posed the question "Would You Use a Male Waxer for Intimate Waxing?" to the WaxChat UK professional waxing Facebook group to gauge industry sentiment and determine whether there was a market for my services.
The responses were mixed, with understandable concerns raised. However, analysing the feedback revealed interesting insights that influenced my business decision:
40% said YES: Emphasised professionalism over gender, comparing male waxers to male gynaecologists.
45% said NO: Preferred female waxers, citing comfort, cultural, or safety concerns.
15% were OPEN: Acknowledged that personal choice should be respected.
Even a small percentage of women preferring a male waxer suggested there might be enough demand — especially since I would likely be the only one offering this service in my area. I therefore decided the investment in training was worthwhile.
There were some industry barriers to training, but after a personal recommendation from Andy Rouillard ("Wax Daddy"), Sam Marshall ("The Wax Guru") agreed to train me in the specialist technique of female intimate waxing. I'm very thankful to Sam and her team, who champion inclusivity, for providing such high-quality training.
Since qualifying with Sam and starting to see female clients for intimate waxing, my client base has steadily grown through trusted reviews and personal recommendations. I completely understand that many women prefer not to see a male waxer — but those who do visit are delighted they did, often commenting on how gentle and comfortable the experience is, and most return regularly.
But don't just take my word for it—read the 150 five star reviews from my clients. You can find out more about me and my work using the links below.

How long have you been waxing?
I obtained my first waxing certificate in March 2020 from Capital Beauty.
Initially, the COVID-19 lockdowns affected the hair and beauty industry disproportionately. However, since restrictions ended, I’ve been busy waxing clients full-time.

Are you creepy?
Over the last three years, I’ve seen 112 female clients for intimate waxing, performing a total of 1,108 Hollywood and Brazilian waxes.
The average female client returns around 10 times, and only 19% visit just once. This suggests that once clients experience the service, their initial concerns are usually alleviated — and I don’t think they would return if I were a creep.
This question was actually asked by a new client on the phone several years ago. She’s continued to come for her intimate waxing every three weeks for the last four years.
The question of what makes a man “creepy” is subjective, but after working with both male and female clients, I’ve come to understand the difference. Some men can make people uncomfortable — thankfully, that’s not a label I’ve ever knowingly been given.

How long does waxing last?
To understand the answer to this question, you first need to appreciate that the human hair growth cycle consists of four stages:
Anagen (growing) phase
Catagen (transitional) phase
Telogen (resting) phase
Exogen (shedding) phase
When you first start waxing, your hairs are spread across these different stages. During your first wax, I'll remove all the hairs that are currently above the surface, so you'll leave completely hair-free. However, some hairs in the early Anagen phase may still be just under the surface, waiting to emerge.
Regular waxing helps to synchronise your hair growth cycles. Over time, all the hairs that are removed are effectively reset to the beginning of their growth phase. It takes a few sessions for this to happen, but it usually becomes noticeable after about the third regular wax.
My clients and I have observed that with consistent waxing, you can expect up to four weeks of being completely hair-free. When the timing works well, the hairs tend to grow back at the same rate, making them easier to remove in one go during your next session.
Over time, hair regrowth also becomes finer and sparser, and clients who have been waxing regularly for a long period often experience very little or even virtually no regrowth.

Can I have a massage after my waxing?
Yes, many clients enjoy a relaxing back massage with hot stones after their waxing.
You can select a massage add-on from the booking page as normal. However, not all waxing appointments allow this. It's not good practice to massage newly waxed skin, so for this reason, you can't have a back massage after a back wax or a leg massage after a leg wax.
The reason is that massage oils and friction may irritate freshly waxed skin and increase the risk of folliculitis.
In short: I won't massage newly waxed skin.

Do you offer Lomi Lomi massage?
Yes, I'm one of the few massage therapists offering this amazing treatment in Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, and Northamptonshire.
Lomi Lomi is a traditional Hawaiian whole-body massage that uses long, continuous, flowing strokes — often compared to gentle ocean waves — to nurture body, mind, and spirit. It's sometimes translated as "loving hands" and is rooted in Hawaiian healing philosophy, so sessions may include a short cleansing ritual (Palo Santo, salt water, breath work, and a blessing), with an emphasis on intention and holistic wellbeing.
The technique is intuitive and rhythmic, using the forearms, hands, and wrists for fluid strokes. It can include cross-lateral movements and gentle stretches, and typically uses no draping or clothing so the therapist can work continuously over large areas of the body. The overall aim is deep physical relaxation plus mental, emotional, and spiritual balance.

How long should I leave between waxing appointments?
Generally between three and seven weeks.
When you first start waxing, it's best to have your first few appointments fairly close together. The second wax is usually far easier, especially if done within five weeks of the first.
Once you've been waxing for a while, some clients extend the time between visits, though most stick to every four or five weeks.
I avoid scheduling appointments less than three weeks apart, as hair may not have grown through fully — which can result in missed hairs. However, if you have a special event or holiday, I'll always try to help balance ideal timing with your needs.
Personally, I have my intimate waxing every six weeks, which gives excellent results — totally smooth for three to four weeks.
